I am truckin' right on through this zombie series by T W Brown and lovin' every minute of it. :) I have a couple of new to me authors lined up for next week and I am excited.
Here is what I have for you this week:
Dead: Darkness Before Dawn by T W Brown - 4 Stars ****
Winter has gone, but the world is no less inhospitable.
The survivors of this first winter now face some of the
darkest and most soul-wrenching choices thus far. From the outskirts of London
to an island refuge in Oregon, small groups struggle to build a new life.
Kevin recovers to a realization that shatters his dreams,
yet he must stand up and take the role of leader...or die trying. His
followers, now largely consisting of juvenile delinquents and society cast offs
need him. Can he shake loose from his own misery to be their salvation?
Billy must decide what sort of life he wants to forge. Has
he been following blindly and gone down the wrong path? And has Dr. Zahn
finally discovered the mystery of the zombie children?
Dead: Spring by T W Brown - 4 Stars ****
Everything hangs by the thinnest of threads. In a DEAD
world, nothing is certain and nobody is safe. Friends have fallen, some enemies
have been defeated only to be replaced by yet another. As the first year of the
zombie apocalypse ends and a new year begins, can a person hope that the coming
of spring can be a starting point for re-birth? If not...then what is the point
of trying to survive? Fates will be sealed and destinies decided as winter
finally fades, the darkness recedes and gives way to...
Lost Girl by Colleen Vanderlinden - 4 Stars ****
Molly Brooks is a telepathic vigilante with a few secrets
and a mysterious past. Determined to make something of her bizarre powers, she
devotes herself to saving those who need her most. One night, she's followed by
a powerful being in a pickup truck, and her world will never be the same.
Finding herself thrust into a world full of supernatural beings she could have
only imagined, Molly learns how powerful she really is, and how much she stands
to lose.
That Ghoul Ava and the Queen of the Zombies - T W Brown
4 Stars ****
Ava Birch killed herself and woke up a ghoul with an
attitude and a hunger for the dead.
With no manual and very little help coming from the
supernatural community, Ava offers her services to the regional psychic. Her
newest job? Apparently zombies have been spotted in a small town nearby.
Ava wades in thinking that this job will be a piece of
cake...or at least as tasty. Navigating meddling vampires, bothersome witches,
and a peculiar case of memory loss...and now her best friend and human
companion has up and walked out.
Things go from bad to worse when Ava discovers that there is
a force behind these recent zombie sightings that may date back to the time of
the Black Plague.
Sometimes a ghoul would just rather stay in bed...or at
least her sound proof basement where nobody can hear you scream.
Hades Daughter by Charlotte Carol - 3 Stars ***
They’re a match made in hell: Reid Brice is the leader of a
notorious gang called the Grim Reapers, and Scarlett Hades is the daughter of
the lord of the underworld.
Scarlett convinces her father, Hades, to let her live on
Earth for a year, as she is bored in Hell. She meets Reid on a weekend at the
beach, but this is no ordinary, peaceful, sunny day: Reid and his gang are
trying to kidnap a young girl. Scarlett comes to the rescue, and thus begins
her entanglement with the Grim Reapers.
Reid pursues Scarlett, drawn by her bravado and her unusual
nonchalance in the face of blood and deadly threats. He thinks this is the girl
he has been looking for.
Will he still think the same when she reveals her true form
to him? Or will he see her as nothing but a monster?
Waking Magic by Martha Carr - 3 Stars ***
Magic. Is. Real.
What if the weird and strange things you saw on the covers
of tabloids was real? What if that was just the tip of the iceberg?
Homicide detective, Leira Berens is in a race against a
maniacal magical force that wants to rip apart our understanding of reality at
the seams.
With the help of a foul mouthed tiny troll, Leira must push
beyond her limits to stop a devastating attack of magical proportions and come
to terms with the fact that maybe her mother wasn’t crazy. Maybe there are
elves, magical realms and things we just can’t explain.
The stakes are real and so is the magical world she just
visited.
With help from unexpected places, Leira is going to
accomplish more than she ever thought possible.
That wraps up my reading week. I hope you are reading something wonderful!
Thanks for stopping by,
Michelle
